AWARD DETAILS

Each year up to 100 high-achieving students who are independent thinkers, display purposeful leadership, and have a civic orientation will receive full funding to pursue a graduate education at Stanford University. Knight-Hennessy scholars may pursue any graduate degree at Stanford, including JD, MA, MBA, MD, MFA, MS, and PhD. programs. The interdisciplinary community of Knight-Hennessy Scholars work together to find new solutions to real-world problems. Applicants must submit a separate application to the Stanford University graduate program they plan to apply to. Award of the Knight-Hennessy Scholarship is contingent upon acceptance to Stanford. 

Eligibility 

  • Open to applicants of all nationalities
  • Open to all academic fields
  • Graduating senior, Alumni (within four years of earning their first Bachelor’s degree, and enroll within five years of earning their first Bachelor’s degree)

Award Highlights: 

  • Full funding (tuition, stipend, and graduate program and related academic expenses) to pursue a graduate education at one of Stanford’s 125+ graduate programs
  • The program has a distinctly multidisciplinary focus, and will provide opportunities for leadership training, mentorship and cohort-based experiential learning

Application Components: 

  • Applicants must apply to one of Stanford University's graduate programs. Priority is given to applicants who apply for programs lasting more than one year.
  • Online application
    • Two personal essays and two short answer questions
  • Transcripts for all colleges and universities attended
  • Standardized test scores (as required by the graduate program you are applying to)
  • Resume (1 page)
  • Letter of recommendation (2)
    • that address your ability and determination to make a difference
  • Video story (prompt provided at application link, 2 minutes, maximum)
