AWARD DETAILS
Schwarzman Scholars is a highly selective, one-year master's program at Tsinghua University in Beijing that is designed to prepare the next generation of global leaders for the challenges of the future. The program also provides Scholars with unparalleled learning opportunities with leaders from China and the world through high-level interactions at lectures, an internship program, a mentor network, and intensive deep-dive travel seminars. This scholarship provides a year of study leading to a Master's degree in Public Policy, Economics and Business, or International Studies at Tsinghua University in Beijing, China. All courses are taught in English.
Eligibility
- No citizenship requirement
- Open to all academic fields
- Graduating senior or alumni (under the age of 29)
Award Highlights:
- Support for a one-year Master’s Degree at Tsinghua University in Beijing – one of China’s most prestigious universities that includes: tuition, room and board, Lenovo laptop and smartphone, required course books and supplies, health insurance, personal stipend ($3000), travel to and from Beijing at the beginning and end of the academic year
- Students will live and study together on the campus of Schwarzman College, a newly built, state-of-the-art facility
- All classes will be taught in English
- Students will pursue a degree on one of three disciplines: Public Policy, Economics and Business, International Studies
Application Components:
- Biographical information
- Letter of recommendation addressing specifically your qualifications as a Schwarzman Scholar (3)
- Current undergraduates: 2 letters from professors who can speak to your academic abilities, and 1 letter specifically addressing your leadership abilities (this can be from an employer, supervisor, mentor, faculty member, advisor, or other).
- Graduate students or young professionals: At least 1 academic letter from professor, 1 letter addressing your leadership abilities, and 1 additional letter that will best reflect the applicant’s current profile, either from an additional employer, mentor, or faculty.

- Short answer questions (100 maximum)
- Leadership essay (750 word maximum)
- Statement of purpose (500 word maximum)
- Resume (2 page maximum)
- Video introduction (optional but recommended)
