In an effort to boost student success, URDS has launched an impact fund in partnership with UO Advancement.
The impact fund will support foundational and often transformational opportunities for undergraduate students of all backgrounds to pursue research and distinguished scholarships and to enrich their academic experiences at UO.
“I’m really excited about our new impact fund,” said Kevin Hatfield, assistant vice provost for URDS. “This fund is going to support traditionally underserved students in having access to all of the opportunities that a public liberal arts and sciences research university has to offer.”
Gifts to the fund will be used to support:
- Undergraduate research fellowships and small grants;
- Student travel to academic conferences and distinguished scholarships interview sites;
- Access to Phi Beta Kappa by defraying National Society membership fee;
- Awards for student presenters at the Undergraduate Research Symposium.
During an initial campaign period until March 3, all donations to the impact fund up to $10,000 will be matched by donors Sue and Todd Ringoen.
"We believe in the power of education,” the couple said. “The well-orchestrated programs overseen by UO’s Undergraduate Research and Distinguished Scholarships team remove barriers, enhance educational experiences and give every student an equal chance of success, particularly students who have traditionally been underserved."
